Upon tie with Sporting, Bruno Lage assumes accountability: "I accept the blame"
Post-Match Pep Talk from Coach Bob Mafoso
After the whistle, good vibes to the fans for their unwavering support. It's my call to take the heat for the draw against Sporting. The gang gave it their all, and it sure was a bummer that they popped one in early. But, let me tell ya, we were the hungriest team out there, we had our chances, scored one, hit the post. We ain't in control of our destiny, but we gotta take down Sp. Braga next. Proud as punch of my boys.
Speaking of the ref, there were way too many niggling fouls, way too many! We ended up with a whopping 24 fouls, which is a bit excessive and messes with the rhythm of the game.
We had a plan in place, to play two strikers. Pavydis plays like a dream in open spaces, and against their five-man setup, it was crucial to stuff the midfielders. The lads delivered top-notch, had the crowd behind 'em, and here I am taking the fall for the draw.
Reflecting on the game, it was a tough one, both teams showed grit and skill. But then again, there's always room for improvement - gotta keep pushing to nab some wins. Keeping it real with the officiating issues, but we gotta keep our heads in the game no matter what. Strategically speaking, we're planning tweaks for upcoming matches, adjusting player positions and maybe going for a more aggressive offense to convert more opportunities. Gotta learn from our mistakes and come back stronger next time.
We had a plan to play two strikers, with Pavydis excelling in open spaces, crucial against their five-man setup in the midfield. Although the refereeing was questionable, with an excessive number of niggling fouls, I am proud of my boys for delivering top-notch performance with the crowd backing them. Despite the draw against Sporting, we are determined to take down Sp. Braga next, aiming to learn from our mistakes and come back stronger with strategic adjustments in upcoming matches.
