Updates on Amazon Prime Video for August 2025
Get ready for an action-filled August on Amazon Prime Video! With a variety of new releases, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Starting off the month, Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson star in the action comedy, The Pickup. This high-stakes heist adventure is reminiscent of classics like 48 Hrs., as the duo plays armored truck drivers caught in a criminal heist orchestrated by Keke Palmer's criminal mastermind.
If you're a fan of undercover cop action, be sure to check out the new reboot of Miami Vice. Directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Dan Gilroy, this film follows undercover detectives James "Sonny" Crockett and Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs as they infiltrate a dangerous drug cartel.
For those who prefer espionage thrillers, Butterfly is a must-watch. Based on a graphic novel, it features Daniel Dae Kim as a spy on the run and boasts bilingual dialogue in Korean and English, as well as intense spy action.
The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, a prequel origin story in an action-thriller mold, is also worth a watch. While it's more of a TV series, it's one of the most buzzed-about action entries of the month.
Other notable mentions include The Map That Leads to You and The Summer I Turned Pretty, both of which are new shows available on Amazon Prime Video.
Sports fans won't be left out either. The New York Yankees take on the Boston Red Sox at 7:05 p.m. ET on Wednesday, August 22. The Chicago Sky face off against the Phoenix Mercury at 10 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 28 in the WNBA. The Washington Mystics play the New York Liberty at the same time on the same day.
In addition, the NWSL matches Orlando Pride vs. Gotham FC and Washington Spirit vs. Racing Louisville FC are scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on Friday, August 29 and August 15, respectively. The Atlanta Dream play the Chicago Sky at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 7, and the Indiana Fever face the Phoenix Mercury at 10 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 7.
For music lovers, Outside Lands takes place from August 8-10, and KCON LA 2025 is scheduled for August 1-3.
Don't miss Regian Eersel vs. George Jarvis, a fight at ONE Fight Night at 9 p.m. ET on Friday, August 1.
