Updated World Test Championship Standings as India draws the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-2 at The Oval, 2025-27
In a thrilling turn of events at The Oval, India secured a six-run victory over England in the fifth Test of the ongoing series, leveling the series 2-2. This historic win has moved India to third place in the 2025-2027 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) standings.
The WTC standings now show India with 28 points from 5 matches, boasting a Points Percentage (PCT) of 46.67%. England, on the other hand, have 26 points from 5 matches, but their PCT has been affected by a 2-point deduction due to slow over rates in an earlier Test. As a result, England find themselves in fourth place.
Sri Lanka continue to occupy the second spot in the WTC standings with 66.67 percentage points. Australia lead the table with a perfect record and 100% PCT, having won all their matches so far.
The run-chase set by England was a challenging 374, the highest at The Oval. In India's second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 118 runs, Akash Deep scored 66, Ravindra Jadeja scored 53, and Washington Sundar contributed 53 runs.
For England, Harry Brook scored an impressive 111 runs in the chase, while Joe Root scored 105. Despite these efforts, England fell just short, handing India a much-needed victory.
With both India and England having two wins from five games each in the WTC, the race for the top spots is heating up. Bangladesh are fifth in the WTC standings with 16.67 percentage points, while West Indies, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa are yet to start their WTC campaigns.
The WTC points system awards 12 points for a win, 6 for a tie, 4 for a draw, and 0 for a loss, with deductions possible for slow over rates. Rankings are based on percentage of points won (PCT).
As the series between India and England comes to a close, the focus shifts to the upcoming matches in the WTC, where every point will count towards securing a spot in the final.
The WTC standings reveal that India, despite their slow over rate deduction, have moved up to third place with a PCT of 46.67%, thanks to their victories in some high-scoring sports matches against England. England, meanwhile, struggle in fourth place, their PCT affected by their slow over rate issues and narrow defeat to India.
