Update: Robert Pattinson potentially moving towards Arrakis for Dune 3 cinematic journey

Robert Pattinson is rumored to be in talks for a significant role in the upcoming third installment of Denis Villeneuve's Dune trilogy, titled Dune: Messiah. According to reports, Pattinson is being considered for the antagonist role of Scytale, a key figure from Frank Herbert's original novel who opposes Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides in the story.

Although no official offer has been made publicly, strong interest and rumors have circulated about Pattinson joining the cast in this role. The Hollywood Reporter notes that Pattinson is being eyed for the "chief villain" role in the film, potentially Scytale. Deadline reports that Pattinson is a high priority for Legendary to join the cast of the film, although no formal offer for any role has been made yet.

If Pattinson takes on the role, it will be one of the few major additions to the Dune series' already expansive casts. The film will continue the story 12 years after the first Dune film, focusing on Paul Atreides as Emperor facing new political and existential threats. Other returning cast members include Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Jason Momoa, and Josh Brolin.

Production for Dune: Messiah began in mid-2025 with a planned release date of December 18, 2026. The film is an adaptation of the events of Dune Messiah, the second book in Frank Herbert's Dune series.

Meanwhile, no new information has been provided regarding The Batman Part 2, including its plot, storyline, potential updates, or cast changes. The current estimated release date for the film is October 1, 2027, and it is part of the DC Universe on film and TV. However, forward momentum on The Batman Part 2 has stalled, with the film having been delayed multiple times. The director's decision to make Dune Messiah sooner was explained in an interview with Collider last February.

Pattinson is currently filming for Chris Nolan's adaptation of The Odyssey. It remains to be seen if he will take on the role of Scytale in Dune: Messiah or continue his journey with The Batman. Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting projects.

  1. If Robert Pattinson accepts the role, he might join the lineup of entertainments like Gizmodo and io9 might be eager to discuss, with Dune: Messiah set to release technology-driven future films and TV shows under the Movies-and-TV umbrella.
  2. Pattinson's potential transformation into the antagonist Scytale could also bring fresh speculation about the continuity of Dune's narrative, as the character opposes Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides and the}> existing cast in the epic science fiction saga.
  3. While many await news on the status of The Batman Part 2, the ongoing production of Chris Nolan's adaptation of The Odyssey, featuring Pattinson, could indicate a balancing act between the worlds of movies and superhero entertainment for the acclaimed actor.
