Upcoming unveiling of The Alan Parsons Project's I Robot remake slated for October

The Alan Parsons' Project's classic album, I Robot, is set for a lavish reissue on October 17-18, 2025. This pioneering progressive rock record, which explores philosophical themes regarding AI and was inspired by Isaac Asimov's Robot series of books, will be available in several expanded formats.

The highlight of the reissue is the Super Deluxe Box Set, a five-disc extravaganza that includes 4 CDs, 1 Blu-ray, and a 45rpm 180g heavyweight LP vinyl edition. The album has been remastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, featuring a 2025 remaster of the original album and extensive bonus content.

Key details of the Super Deluxe Box Set include:

  • Format: The box set features a 4 CDs, 1 Blu-ray, and a 180g heavyweight LP vinyl (45rpm).
  • Bonus tracks: Approximately 70 bonus tracks across the three CDs, with 47 previously unreleased. These consist mainly of studio session outtakes, B-sides, single edits, and UK/US radio adverts.
  • Audio mixes on Blu-ray: Dolby Atmos and 5.1 Surround Sound mixes by Alan Parsons, plus a stereo HD & CD remaster of the original album.
  • Additional videography: Includes the promotional video for I Wouldn’t Want To Be Like You and an interview with Eric Woolfson discussing the I Robot album.
  • Booklet and extras: A large, fully illustrated 12” x 12” casebound hardback book featuring interviews with Alan Parsons, the Woolfson family, musicians, full lyrics, commentary on the bonus tracks, an A1 poster, and a reproduction press kit folder.
  • Vinyl editions: Alongside the Super Deluxe Box, the album is available on 180g black vinyl, limited edition 180g heavyweight clear vinyl, and an exclusive ‘arctic pearl’ colored vinyl edition sold through the official shop.
  • Collector's incentive: The first 500 Super Deluxe Box Sets purchased via the official store come with a print signed by Alan Parsons.

The standard expanded CD edition includes the newly remastered album plus four bonus tracks and a 12-page booklet with sleevenotes and lyrics but fewer extras compared to the box set.

Originally released in 1977, I Robot was a significant contributor to the album's chart success and featured the core musicians Ian Bairnson, David Paton, Stuart Tosh, Eric Woolfson, and various vocalists including Steve Harley, Allan Clarke, Lenny Zakatek, Peter Straker, Jack Harris, and Jaki Whitren. The album's cover, featuring a robot-like figure, was advantageous due to its rarity among store sleeves with robots.

Notably, the reissue coincides with the 48th anniversary of I Robot and aims to introduce the album's groundbreaking sound and its thematic connection to Isaac Asimov’s sci-fi robot stories to a new generation of music enthusiasts.
