Upcoming Tri-partite Encounter: Trump, Zelensky, and Putin to Gather at the White House - Press Reports

A trilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and Russian President Vladimir Putin is being discussed, although the exact details have not yet been finalized.

The proposed summit, which could take place as early as next week, is primarily framed as a bilateral meeting between Trump and Putin, with no confirmed participation of Zelensky as of mid-August 2025. The location for the meeting is set to be Alaska, marking the initial engagement for Trump and Putin.

The discussions are aimed at exploring ways to end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with President Trump positioning himself as a dealmaker seeking a ceasefire or resolution. Trump has suggested the possibility of "land swapping" as part of any peace deal, a controversial notion given Zelensky’s refusal and constitutional limits on conceding Ukrainian territory.

The meeting aims to "feel out" parameters and assess the potential for a deal quickly, with Trump stating he would know within minutes if an agreement was achievable. However, Zelensky has warned Trump not to be misled by Putin, underscoring the complexities and skepticism on Ukraine's side.

The White House is actively working on the details of the potential meetings, with White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany confirming that President Trump is open to meetings with leaders of both countries. McEnany quoted President Trump as saying, "As President Trump stated yesterday, the Russians have expressed a desire to meet with President Trump, and President Trump is open to that meeting."

It is currently unclear if the meeting between Trump and Putin will lead to a trilateral meeting with Zelensky. The exact date and location of the meeting have not been disclosed.

Reports from Polish outlet Onet suggest that the US has presented a "favorable" proposal on Ukraine to Russian leader Vladimir Putin during talks with US President's special envoy Steve Whitkoff in Moscow. However, the details of this proposal remain undisclosed.

This potential meeting between the leaders of the US, Russia, and Ukraine comes after three years of strained relations between the US and Russia over various issues. The meeting may be an attempt to improve relations and find a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.

  1. The proposed meeting between Trump, Putin, and Zelensky aims to address the ongoing war-and-conflicts in Ukraine, with politics playing a significant role in the discussions.
  2. General news outlets have reported that the US has presented a proposal on Ukraine to Putin, which, if accepted, could lead to a potential resolution of the conflict and improve the politics between the US and Russia.
