Upcoming Super League Triathlon Weekend: An Overview of Events to Anticipate

The picturesque Waterfront in Jersey is set to host an exciting weekend of charity and sports events, as the RBC Race for the Kids and the Supertri League make their way to the Island.

The RBC Race for the Kids, a charity event that raises funds for the Jersey Child Care Trust, will take place on Sunday morning. This family-friendly event is open to everyone, regardless of age and ability, and participants can choose from 2.5km, 5km, or 10km routes. On Saturday, a meet and greet with athletes will be held at the Fan Zone for those eager to interact with the professionals.

In the men's category, Podium Racing is currently leading the table with 174 points after a strong performance in Chicago. Crown Racing is in second place with 166 points, and Brownlee Racing is in third with 121 points. However, a surprise was announced when Alberto González Garcia, the men's leader, revealed he would not be able to defend his position in the race.

The women's category promises to be just as thrilling, with Jeanne Lehair and Georgia Taylor-Brown closely matched, with only two points separating them. The fierce competition is expected to heat up on Sunday morning before the race.

The Supertri League, a professional triathlon league featuring the world's best athletes racing in teams, will take place in the afternoon. Spectators can watch the racing from around the Marina and the Waterfront, and there will be food, drink, live entertainment, giveaways, and children's activities to keep everyone entertained.

The event could be decisive for the season, as it is the league's third stage and the season's penultimate event. Tim Don, manager of Brownlee Racing, has expressed hope for a strong performance in Jersey, as the team feels a special connection to the Island.

Road closures will occur on Rue De L'Etau and La Rue de Carteret on both Saturday and Sunday for the events. Warm-up sessions will be scheduled before each distance for the RBC Race for the Kids, and fans can purchase event merchandise and get it signed by elite athletes ahead of the race on Sunday.

Apart from the racing, the weekend will also feature a Q&A with the Podium Racing Team and live music. The meet and greet event is free to attend and everyone is welcome. On Sunday before the race start, there is a pitwalk in the pit lane at 10:20 AM, followed by the start lineup at 11:10 AM, with the race beginning at 12:00 PM. Activities include opportunities to experience vehicles up close, and entertainment such as the Falken Drift Show takes place in the paddock and between training and the race on the Grand-Prix circuit.

So, mark your calendars for Sunday, 21 September, and head down to Jersey's Waterfront for a day filled with excitement, charity, and sports.
