Upcoming Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films on Netflix during Summer Season

Sure thing, let's get to it! Here's a unfiltered, uncensored, and totally unbiased rundown of the sci-fi, fantasy, and horror flicks Netflix has lined up for the summer. Get ready for a wild ride!

May 23 - Fear Street: Prom Queen

Thought that Fear Street was all wrapped up? Better save a dance for this new installment, dropping on 23rd May, taking us back to the treacherous halls of Shadyside High in 1988. Director Matt Palmer is at the helm, and the cast features a crew of feisty, fearless teens including India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, Chris Klein, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, and Ariana Greenblatt, with Lili Taylor and Katherine Waterston joining in on the chills.

June 20 - KPop Demon Hunters

Get ready for some demonic pop sensation this June 20th! This Sony Pictures Animation production is an "animated action comedy" that follows a trio of K-pop superstars, oh yes, they're not just singing and dancing, they're demon hunters! The plot thickens when they are forced to protect their twitchy, screamy fans from a rival boy band that's more monster than man. The directors are Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, and the voice cast is stacked with talent like Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Yunjin Kim, Joel Kim Booster, Liza Koshy, and even Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, and Byung Hun Lee make an appearance.

July 2 - The Old Guard 2

After what seems like an eternity (okay, it's just been a few years, but who's counting?), we finally get a second helping of The Old Guard on July 2nd! Victoria Mahoney is back at the helm as director, leading a formidable cast that includes Charlize Theron, Henry Golding, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Uma Thurman, and more. This time around, our immortal warriors are back in action, battling foes, uncovering mysteries, and doing lots and lots of ass-kicking action.

July 10 - Brick

Less high-octane than lot of the other films on this list, but no less intriguing; Brick is a tale of an ordinary couple who wake up to find themselves trapped in their apartment building by a mysterious wall. Who constructed the wall? Why was it built? And most importantly, can they find a way to escape?

August 13 - Fixed

This obnoxiously immature animated comedy from Genndy Tartakovsky stars comedy heavyweights like Adam Devine, Idris Elba, Kathryn Hahn, Fred Armisen, Bobby Moynihan, Beck Bennett, Michelle Buteau, and River Gallo. The story follows a dog's final night of freedom before he gets fixed... but will he let his tinder-filled bachelor lifestyle come to an end?

Summer - Lost in Starlight

Netflix's first-ever Korean-language animated film is a romantic adventure that follows the story of an astronaut and a musician who find love, even though they're separated by millions of miles – one on Earth, the other on Mars.

All the horror, sci-fi, and fantasy flicks on Netflix's summer slate can be found at Tudum, along with a heap of other genre titles.

And if you're hankering for more fun stuff beyond these genres, check out when to expect the latest releases from Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, the DC Universe, and Doctor Who. Keep it unfiltered, keep it wild, and happy binging!

  1. From IO9 to Gizmodo, the future of entertainment is bright with the upcoming movies and TV shows on Netflix's summer slate, especially the sci-fi, fantasy, and horror flicks.
  2. Get ready for the KPop Demon Hunters animated action comedy on June 20th, a series that blends music, demon hunting, and a rival boy band with a taste of the supernatural.
  3. The Old Guard 2, set to release on July 2nd, promises more action, mystery, and ass-kicking from Charlize Theron and the immortal warriors.
  4. In a less high-octane approach, Lost in Starlight, Netflix's first Korean-language animated film, offers a romantic adventure about two lovers separated by millions of miles, one on Earth and the other on Mars. Keep your eyes peeled for this and many other enticing titles at Tudum.
