Upcoming Notables in 2023

In the vibrant world of drum and bass, several promising new talents are making waves, and 2023 promises to be an exciting year for the genre.

One of the artists to watch is BANNERMAN, who has already made guest appearances on Rinse FM and the SUNANDBASS podcast. Another rising star is DJ ANIMAL, whose unique style is captivating audiences. KAMIKO, RED EYE, SCOTTY, and SEAN FORTUNE are also on the radar, as highlighted in an Instagram post showcasing emerging DnB talent.

While not exclusively drum and bass, Steller is a shining example of the new generation of bass music artists. This talented artist has been bringing fresh life to the scene in recent years. However, the focus for 2023 is on the artists listed on the Instagram post.

Cross-Over, another up-and-coming artist, recently released his track "In The Midst" on Rene's DeVice Records. No Nation, known for their unique blend of drum and bass subgenres, including jungle breaks, experimental patterns, and influences from liquid, hip-hop, techno, and UKG, also deserves a mention.

In the drum and bass scene, Stuart Rowe, a vocalist who has been uncovered recently, is making a name for himself. Pinks, a 160-180 bpm selectress, has been on the radar due to her major involvement in Queer Collective Unorthodox, the UK's leading queer Drum & Bass movement.

Pinks is set to release her first single in March, and her involvement with Bristol-based justBe, a group committed to equality and epic events, further cements her position as an artist to watch. She will be playing Unorthodox events in London in February and in Brighton in March. Pinks has also been a resident at the 'just be' events for some time.

No Nation's mixes can be found on their Soundcloud, and they have been picked up by underground connoisseurs Sweetpea, Dexta, and Rave Report. Gabriel, another promising artist, recently released his track "Hypnotise - Crossover" on Toronto Is Broken's YANA Music. His upcoming single and EP are scheduled for release on French-based Vahana Records in 2023.

Natty Lou has been announced as one of the mentees of the newest Dynamics x Overview mentorship, and Sam Binary's 7-track EP 'Reality Slip' was released on The North Quarter. One of Sam's tracks, 'Surface Tension', was a highlight on The North Quarter's inaugural NQ State of Mind compilation.

CaitC, the dancefloor queen of the Netherlands, has tunes on labels like LUX and Viper Recordings, and will be one of the opening acts on Rampage in March. Pinks has a new mix out on 1 More Thing, featuring dubs from herself, and she is b2b on a collab with BioTek's bars in the track "Repetitive Cycles," with her own spoken word at 24 minutes in.

As we move into 2023, these artists are sure to bring fresh energy and innovation to the drum and bass scene. Keep an eye out for their upcoming releases and performances!
