Michael J. Fox's New Memoir: "Future Boy" - A Journey Through Time
Fresh Autumn Releases: Memoirs on the Horizon - Upcoming memoirs slated for release in autumn
Step back in time, but this ain't a DeLorean ride - it's paper and ink! Beloved actor, Michael J. Fox (63), known for his iconic role as Marty McFly, is penning a new book, "Future Boy," to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the global hit film, "Back to the Future."
"This book has become my bloody time machine," the actor tells American magazine "People" about the memoirs he co-wrote with Nelle Fortenberry. The title is "Future Boy: Back to the Future and My Journey Through the Space-Time Continuum." The publishing house Flatiron Books announced the release date on its Instagram account: October 14.
The book mainly revolves around the wildest moments of his career: the year 1985 when Fox juggled his iconic role as Marty McFly alongside his US sitcom, "Family Ties," during the day and filming "Back to the Future" at night. In his new book, he reminisces about the chaotic madness of playing two cult roles simultaneously. "Time's the only fecker that isn't bloody everywhere at once," Fox quips, referencing renowned physicist Albert Einstein. "I wonder if even Einstein could make sense of my life back then when time was nonsensical and dragged me along like a bullfish on a line. It was bananas!"
Fox digs deep, exploring big questions in his memoirs: "Who the bloody hell am I?" He believes he's bloody figured it out. It includes new interviews with actors from both projects, "to tell a piece of entertainment history that's never been heard before," according to the book description.
"This book has become my time machine, but unlike fucking Doc Brown's creation, there's room for everyone who wants to tag along," Michael J. Fox promotes himself.
Fourth Time's the Charm
Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1991, is an accomplished author, with four memoirs under his belt. "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Future," "Always Looking Up, Lucky Man," and "No Time Like the Future" are already bestsellers.
In "No Time Like the Future," Fox reflected on his film career and his life perspective after his Parkinson's diagnosis at the age of 29.
About the new book, he says: "What's exciting for me is that this new book is less memoir and more perspective - I'm considering questions that I believe we all have about our lives: Who am I? Where am I? Where am I going? I'm bloody not gonna give away the secrets, but I think I've figured it out."
This time around, Fox promises a mix of memoir and cultural history, with his signature wit and introspection leading the way. So, buckle up for a wild ride through time and cinema with "Future Boy"!
