Upcoming launch of remastered version of The Alan Parsons Project's I Robot, scheduled for October
On October 18, 2025, The Alan Parsons' Project's second studio album, I Robot, will be reissued in a highly detailed and expansive Limited Edition Super Deluxe Box Set. This reissue marks the return of the iconic concept album that explores philosophical themes regarding AI.
The Super Deluxe Box Set is a treasure trove for fans of The Alan Parsons Project, featuring four CDs, one Blu-ray Disc, and a 45rpm 180g heavyweight LP vinyl edition of I Robot.
The CDs include a stereo remaster of the original album by Miles Showell, along with 70 bonus tracks, including 47 previously unreleased studio outtakes. The Blu-ray disc contains a new Dolby Atmos and 5.1 Surround Sound remix by Alan Parsons, a new HD stereo remaster, the promotional video for "I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You," and an archive interview with Eric Woolfson discussing the album.
The 2-LP audiophile pressing on 45 rpm heavyweight 180-gram vinyl has been half-speed remastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios.
A large-format hardcover book is also included, featuring extensive interviews with Alan Parsons, the musicians, vocalists, and Woolfson’s family, full lyrics, track commentary, and additional insights. The book is a comprehensive exploration of the album's conceptual ties to Isaac Asimov's robot stories and offers a wealth of archival materials.
The Super Deluxe Box Set also includes a replica original 1977 press folder, featuring an A1-sized poster, original band biographies, press photos, press releases, and a promotional postcard.
For the first 500 box sets purchased from the official shop, a signed print by Alan Parsons will be included as a special bonus.
The Super Deluxe Box Set showcases stunning Dolby Atmos and 5.1 Surround Sound mixes by Alan Parsons, ensuring an immersive audio experience for listeners. The album will also be available on various vinyl formats, including 180g classic black vinyl and limited edition, 180g heavyweight clear vinyl.
The original album featured Ian Bairnson, David Paton, Stuart Tosh, Eric Woolfson, and various vocalists, including Steve Harley, Allan Clarke, Lenny Zakatek, Peter Straker, Jack Harris, and Jaki Whitren. Andrew Powell was responsible for arrangements on the album.
The cover of I Robot featured a robot-like figure, which was advantageous due to the scarcity of similar covers in stores at the time. The album was released concurrently with the release of Star Wars in the US, adding to its cultural significance.
This reissue of I Robot promises to be a must-have for fans of The Alan Parsons Project and concept albums alike, offering a unique blend of music, history, and archival materials. The Limited Edition Super Deluxe Box Set is set for release on October 17, 2025.
