Upcoming Jumanji Sequel Details: Release Date, Actors, Storylines, and Latest Insights
With the much-anticipated Jumanji 3 set to hit theaters in December 2026, fans of the beloved franchise are eagerly waiting for more details about the upcoming film.
Based on Chris Van Allsburg's picture book of the same name, the Jumanji series has captivated audiences with its unique blend of adventure, comedy, and suspense. The first two installments, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level, introduced a fresh set of characters and strayed from the narrative of the '90s original.
The upcoming trilogy conclusion, often referred to as Jumanji 3, is expected to take a new twist, with the action primarily unfolding in the real world, as animals from the game have reportedly escaped.
The core four in-game characters, including Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black, are set to return for this thrilling new chapter. However, as of yet, Sony has not confirmed any casting details, nor have we heard about the return of Danny DeVito and Danny Glover or the appearance of Nick Jonas' character.
Director Jake Kasdan mentioned in 2021 that the team had a "really fun pitch" for the movie, but plot details have remained under wraps. One thing is for certain, Rory McCann's character Jurgen the Brutal is still alive and could make a comeback in Jumanji 3.
Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson have hinted at Jumanji 3 potentially being their final movie together, adding an extra layer of excitement to the project. Jack Black has also spoken about the project, suggesting his involvement in the movie.
Production of Jumanji 3 was initially stunted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but as Dwayne Johnson confirmed in September 2025, filming is set to begin in November 2025.
As for the official title of Jumanji 3, it has not yet been revealed. The 2019 sequel was titled Jumanji: The Next Level, and while the upcoming third film does not have a distinct new title as of now, it is commonly referred to as the trilogy conclusion or "Jumanji 3".
With no teaser or trailer video for Jumanji 3 released yet, fans will have to wait until December 2026 to see if the film lives up to the hype. But one thing is certain, the return of the iconic Jumanji franchise to the big screen is an event not to be missed.
