Upcoming Event: 25th Dortmund Museum Night - Hands-On Police Work Exposure!
On September 20, 2025, the city of Dortmund will host the 25th DEW21 Museum Night, a cultural extravaganza coordinated by its institutions and museums. The Dortmund Police Headquarters will be a significant part of this event, offering a diverse program for visitors of all ages.
Located at Markgrafenstraße 102, 44139 Dortmund, the Police Headquarters will open its doors for a night of learning, entertainment, and interaction. Public transportation is highly recommended for the journey.
Crime prevention experts will be on hand to offer advice on securing your home and answer questions about cybercrime and fraud at the Criminal Police Advisory Office. For those interested in law enforcement, the recruitment team will be available to answer questions about a career in the police.
Visitors can get a glimpse of the operational side of the police force by viewing old and current police vehicles, including a vintage VW T3, at the main entrance from 4 PM onwards.
For the more adventurous, there will be opportunities to test their skills. Visitors can try on police uniforms and protective clothing, secure their own fingerprints with forensic experts, and test their balance on a goggles course under the influence of "alcohol and drugs" (1.1 or 0.5 per mille).
Entertainment is not forgotten, with a puppet theater featuring the traffic prevention puppet show "Moses becomes a police dog" at 4:30 PM, 5:30 PM, and 6:30 PM. Additionally, police dog handlers will demonstrate their skills at three shows (4, 5, and 6 PM).
The police sports club offers a unique experience, allowing visitors to shoot with an air pistol.
The highlight of the night is the police exhibition 110, accessible with an audio guide (bring your own headphones with a 3.5 mm jack).
Admission to the event at Dortmund Police Headquarters is free, and tickets for the DEW21 Museum Night can be purchased at participating institutions, the DSW21 customer center, or online at dortmunder-museumsnacht.ticket.io.

Please note that the entire program is subject to the current operational situation, and may be cancelled at short notice in case of major incidents. Group size per tour is limited to 15 people, and minors aged 14 and above may participate with the consent of a legal guardian. Guided tours through the cells of the police detention facility are offered hourly between 4 and 9 PM.
