Upcoming elections on September 14th: Key matters for Gütersloh
With the municipal elections in North Rhine-Westphalia fast approaching, the city of Gütersloh is encouraging its residents to exercise their right to vote. Mayor Matthias Trepper has urged a high voter turnout, emphasising that 'Every vote counts.'
The elections will take place on Sunday, September 14, 2025, and polling stations in Gütersloh will be open from 8 am to 6 pm. The city has approximately 80,000 eligible voters for the municipal elections, and for those who prefer mail-in voting, it is essential that ballots are received at City Hall by Sunday, September 14, at 4 pm.
Mail-in voting materials can be picked up at City Hall during regular hours and on Saturday, September 13, from 9 am to 12 pm. It is important to note that the online application for mail-in voting materials was shut down on Monday afternoon. However, mail-in voting materials can still be applied for and filled out in person at City Hall until September 12, 2025, at 3 pm.
In case a voter falls ill on election day, a representative can pick up the mail-in voting materials, but only until 3 pm on the same day, with a written authorization. To arrange for this, the city administration should be contacted by phone at 05241 / 82-39 39.
The voting districts in Gütersloh have been newly divided for the municipal elections. Voters should check their voting notice to ensure they visit the correct polling station on election day. An ID is required to vote in Gütersloh, and it is recommended to bring the voting notice as well.
For the election of the Integration Council, around 31,800 people in Gütersloh are eligible to vote. The authority responsible for issuing postal voting documents (Briefwahlunterlagen) in the city of Gütersloh is the local election office (Wahlamt) of the city administration.
The city of Gütersloh encourages voters to carefully read their voting notice and apply for mail-in voting materials in advance if necessary. With the elections just around the corner, it is crucial for all eligible residents to make their voices heard and participate in the democratic process.
