Upcoming Election of Mayor Scheduled for September 28th
The city of Bergisch Gladbach is gearing up for a runoff election on September 28, 2025, to decide the next mayor. The race will feature two candidates: Alexander Felsch (CDU) and Marcel Kreutz (SPD).
Interested individuals can volunteer for the election by contacting the city at [email protected] or by calling 02202 / 14 2414.
Voting at the office will be available from Monday, September 22, until the Friday before the election. The voting office will be open from 10:00 - 18:00, except it will close on the Friday before the election at 15:00.
For those who cannot go to the voting office before the election and whose mail-in voting materials do not arrive in time, there are special provisions. However, only those who have automatically received the materials for the runoff election and have confirmed this by checking the box can avail of this service. All others can go to the voting office beforehand.
If you have checked the box, you will automatically receive the voting materials for the runoff election by mail. To confirm whether you have requested the materials, contact the voting office at 02202 / 14 2888 or email [email protected].
On the other hand, if you did not check the box for receiving the materials for the runoff election when you requested mail-in voting for September 14, you can go to your local voting or voting office with your personal ID to cast your vote.
Please note that third parties cannot be entrusted with the vote, as it is a personal election. If you have already requested mail-in voting for the runoff election, you cannot vote directly. New voting notifications will not be sent for the runoff election.
To vote, you will need your personal ID or your voting permit. For security purposes, when contacting the voting office, provide your name, address, and date of birth.
If you would like to request mail-in voting for the runoff election for the first time, you can do so here or by mail.
In-person voting will also be available on September 25, 2025, at 15:00, only for those who are registered voters of the respective precinct and have not applied for mail-in voting. Identification such as an official ID is required if the voting notification is lost, but the polling place will be open for in-person voting until 18:00 that day.
