Upcoming Debut of Triumph Thrust 400 Set for August 6; Learn the Specifics Revealed
Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled its latest offering, the Thruxton 400, a motorcycle that seamlessly blends contemporary engineering with the classic charm of cafe racers.
Design & Styling
The Thruxton 400 boasts a distinctive half fairing, clip-on handlebars, bar-end mirrors, a single-seat with rear cowl, revised fuel tank and tail-light, and blacked-out USD front forks. This design language is inspired by the Thruxton legacy and the Speed Triple 1200 RR styling.
Engine & Performance
Under the hood, the Thruxton 400 houses a 398cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces approximately 41-42 hp at 9,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm torque. The engine has been tuned to emphasise stronger high-rev performance and sharper responses.
Riding Posture & Handling
The Thruxton 400 offers a more committed riding position with lower, narrower handlebars and higher, rear-set footpegs. The suspension includes 43mm USD forks and a preload-adjustable monoshock, both tuned for sharper handling.
Features
The Thruxton 400 comes equipped with modern tech, such as switchable traction control, dual-channel ABS, torque-assist clutch, ride-by-wire throttle, USB-C charging socket, and an analogue speedo with multifunction LCD. Optional heated grips are also available.
Pricing
The Thruxton 400 is priced at Rs 2.74 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), making it marginally more expensive than the Speed 400.
Comparison with the Speed 400 and Bonneville 400
The Thruxton 400, Speed 400, and Bonneville 400 each cater to different riding preferences within Triumph's 400cc lineup. The Thruxton 400 is a premium cafe racer with a sportier riding position, sharper engine tuning, and advanced features. The Speed 400, on the other hand, is a more modern roadster with a balanced approach to performance and comfort, producing slightly less power and featuring less aggressive suspension tuning. The Bonneville 400 is expected to focus on retro styling with a more relaxed riding experience and torque-rich engine tuning.
The Thruxton 400 is poised to appeal to a niche customer base seeking the combination of contemporary engineering and classic romance. With its sleek rear seat cowl, round headlamp design with a cross pattern, and upside-down front forks, the Thruxton 400 is set to make a lasting impression in the world of motorcycling.
