Upcoming 2025 High School Football: St. Henry Players Defining Roles Ahead of the Team's Pioneering Varsity Campaign
The small, co-educational Catholic school in Erlanger, St. Henry, is set to make history as they embark on their first-ever varsity football season in 2025. After a founding year in 1933, the school will finally take the field as a varsity team, marking a significant milestone for the institution.
The inaugural season will kick off on August 22, 2025, with a home game against Holy Cross. The Crusaders' schedule for the season comprises ten games, including matches against Boone County, Bishop Brossart, Bellevue, Gallatin County, Owen County, Beechwood, Bracken County, Walton-Verona, and Ludlow.
The team will compete in Class 2A, District 5, alongside Beechwood, Bracken County, Gallatin County, Owen County, and Walton-Verona. This district alignment will shape their playoff path for the first varsity season.
At the helm of the Crusaders is head coach Tim Odom, who views this coaching opportunity as a dream come true. Coach Odom believes that as long as the team continues to improve, they will see progress in areas such as fewer missed tackles and assignments.
One player who has flourished under Coach Odom's guidance is Will Miller, described as aggressive, instinctive, and all-in on every play. Another senior, Caden Kunstek, who is a 6-foot-4, 230-pound wide receiver and cornerback, is recovering from an injury sustained last season.
In a recent scrimmage game, the Crusaders faced a more experienced opponent, with five seniors on the sideline due to injuries. Despite this, the team put up a good fight, with Kunstek expressing satisfaction with their performance. The primary ball carrier in the scrimmage was sophomore Luca Pate.
Junior Ryne Ravenscraft served as the quarterback for the first-team offense in the scrimmage. Ravenscraft, who had never played quarterback until last year, has noticed a higher level of competition this season after participating in 7-on-7 varsity passing drills earlier this summer.
As the season opener approaches, the players are feeling the anticipation. None of them have competed at this level before, making the upcoming game against Holy Cross all the more historic. The team is also preparing for a scrimmage game against Holmes this coming Friday.
St. Henry's roster includes four senior co-captains: Caden Kunstek, Brennan Lemmond, Gunnar Ditrick, and Gabe Larkins. The Crusaders are eager to make their mark in the world of varsity football and are determined to make the most of this historic opportunity.
The season opener will be a memorable occasion for the 91-year-old school, and fans are eagerly awaiting the first kick-off. As the Crusaders continue their preparations, they are focused on improving their skills and working together as a team to make their debut a successful one.
