News Article: Runoff Election for Langenfeld Mayoral Position Scheduled

The town of Langenfeld is set to hold a runoff election for the mayoral position on September 28, 2025. This decision comes after no candidate secured an absolute majority in the initial municipal election held earlier this year.

The runoff election will pit two candidates against each other: Gerold Georg Wenzens (B/G/L) and Dieter Karl Braschoss (CDU). Gerold Georg Wenzens received 41.31% of the votes in the initial election, while Dieter Karl Braschoss garnered 32.08%.

For those who wish to vote by post, postal voting documents will be sent to those who have already applied for postal voting for the initial election by the following weekend. Applications for postal voting after the fact must be received by 3:00 PM on Friday, September 26, 2025. The postal voting documents can be used to vote by post or at the postal voting office in the town hall.

The postal voting office in the town hall will reopen on Thursday, September 18, 2025. It's advisable to request the postal voting documents well in advance to allow sufficient time. If the voting notification is no longer available, identification with a valid ID card is sufficient for voting, provided the voter is listed in the electoral register.

Unfortunately, due to the necessary preparations for the runoff election, the postal voting office cannot open earlier. All eligible voters can cast their ballots in the runoff election.

The winner of the runoff election will succeed incumbent Frank Schneider as mayor of Langenfeld. Voting in person using the already issued voting notifications remains an option for those who wish to do so.

This runoff election marks an important moment in the governance of Langenfeld, and we encourage all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote and participate in the democratic process.
