Title: Unstoppable Skaters Claim Victory at German Championships
Minerva-Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin, the dynamic duo from figure skating, left spectators awestruck in Berlin, securing their first championship title at the German Figure Skating Championships with a total score of 218.77. After their impressive performances, Hase shared, "We wanted to present ourselves well in front of our home crowd."
Having clinched the Grand Prix Final in Beijing last week, the pair, who have been skating together for a mere year, set their sights on the upcoming European Championships in Tallinn, Estonia. Meanwhile, Annika Hocke and Robert Kunkel, defending champions of the European Championships, had to forfeit their participation due to an unfortunate injury.
Kai Jagoda, a Berlin-native, emerged victorious in the men's category for the very first time, ousting Nikita Starostin, last year's winner, with an impressive 204.51-point total score. Jagoda, whose last two years saw him reaching finals at both the World and European Championships, described the experience as "the best free skate I've ever skated in my life."
With the absence of seven-time German champion Nicole Schott, 22-year-old Kristina Isaev from Mannheim grabbed the opportunity to triumph in the women's division, securing a first-place finish with 158.73 points. Jennifer Janse van Rensburg and Benjamin Steffan from Oberstdorf defended their ice-dancing championship title uncontested, racking up a combined total of 185.49 points.
