In the heart of the pandemic, Simon Drouin, a skilled cyclist with a military-like appearance, rekindled her passion for cycling after a dozen years. Drouin, who hails from Saint-Lazare, embarked on a remarkable journey, pedalling her gravel bike from her hometown to New York City, a distance of 750 km.

Drouin's cycling journey is not just about physical endurance; it's a testament to her spirit and resilience. She identifies as a survivor and a warrior, and her cycling adventures reflect this indomitable spirit. Last year, she covered an impressive 20,000 kilometres on her bike, and this year, she has already clocked 13,000 km.

Drouin's cycling routes often take her through the picturesque landscapes of Eastern Ontario. One of her favourite spots is Mont Rigaud, where she combines cycling with climbing. Her unique aerial pedal stroke is a sight to behold as she navigates the challenging terrains.

Drouin's cycling journey is deeply personal. It provides her with a sense of deepl freedom, a feeling she cherishes deeply. This sense of freedom is perhaps what drove her to complete her New York bike ride in less than 30 hours. She allowed herself only two naps in motels during the journey, demonstrating her unwavering determination.

In addition to her cycling pursuits, Drouin is also an advocate for sexual assault survivors. She is the creator of a t-shirt designed by a survivor, aiming to show solidarity and shift the focus from shame. The t-shirt launch was intentional, a bold statement in support of survivors everywhere.

Drouin's autobiography, The Break, was published in September 2021. However, she has requested that interviews about the book be conducted at a later time due to its sensitive nature. Despite this, she agreed to give a bike ride demonstration, showcasing her expertise on the bike.

Drouin's life is a testament to the power of resilience, courage, and the transformative power of movement, particularly cycling. She believes that movement will be an integral part of her life moving forward. With her Australian terrier Ranger by her side, Drouin continues to inspire and challenge the status quo, one pedal stroke at a time.
