Unverified video alleging IIMT misrepresented an ice cream seller as a graduate with a 1.8 crore salary deal is unauthentic
Puneet Gautam, a Customer Relationship Management professional at Philip Morris International and a former Salesforce employee, has taken to LinkedIn to address fake posts circulating online that use his LinkedIn pictures and details for false claims.
In a statement, the IIMT Group of Colleges, on 21 August 2025, clarified that the viral claims were entirely fabricated. The clarification came after a video surfaced on Instagram, which purported to show an ice cream vendor from Etawah, U.P., being labelled as an IIMT alumnus with a ₹1.8 crore package. However, it has been confirmed that the video was a prank created by an IIMT student, and the person on the billboard is actually Puneet Gautam, a 2011 IIMT graduate with a legitimate high package.
Shailendra, the ice cream vendor from Etawah, has confirmed that he is not the person shown in the viral video. Puneet Gautam, the alumnus in question, has expressed his disappointment over the viral video and has already reported the issue.
The IIMT Group of Colleges has considered the video a deliberate attempt to damage its reputation by falsely comparing its alumni with an ice cream vendor and labeling it as fraud. The DG (Academics) of IIMT spoke to PTI News regarding the issue, expressing the institute's concern and commitment to upholding the truth and the integrity of its students.
It is important to note that Puneet Gautam's LinkedIn profile picture does not match the one used in the viral video, further debunking the false claims. The IIMT Group of Colleges urges the public to exercise caution and verify information before sharing it.
