Unverified reports suggest potential Danish military deployment for training courses in Ukraine.
🔥War Games in Ukraine? 🔥* 📝 Drop a line*
Reports are swirling about Denmark possibly sending its troops to Ukraine for military training, but it's all still up in the air according to a military spokesperson. The Russian ambassador to Denmark has already called this potential move a 'provocation.'
Gotcha! But here's the real scoop
The Danish Armed Forces are considering deploying a few teams of soldiers to Ukraine for a bit of on-the-job training, although a final decision is yet to be made. Army Big Cheese and Major General Peter Boysen appeared on TV2 and shared that these well-armed warriors would be drawn from various army regiments and sent to learn from the Ukraine peeps about their battle hardships.
"We're gonna send some teams down there to learn firsthand from the Ukrainians' experiences. That way, the main players can go gain that insight themselves," Boysen said.
But don't get excited - these Danish fighters would be stationed far from the front lines while in Ukraine, Bootsie confirmed. They wouldn't dish out any smackdowns during their stay.
Initial reports seemed to confirm the plans for Danish soldiers to attend training courses in Ukraine. But then Bootsie clarified, "No decision has yet been made to send Danish soldiers to take part in training courses or placements in Ukraine."
Damn, Russia's Pissed
Russia's Ambassador to Denmark, Vladimir Barbin, tossed some serious shade on this potential decision in a statement to Ritzau. "Calling it a 'harmless event' is a 'lie and a deliberate provocation,'" Barbin said.
Barbin argued that any Danish troops participating in courses could persuade other NATO nations to establish a presence in Ukraine as well. "This is fraught with unpredictable consequences and the risk of a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia," he warned.
Put simply, Barbin isn't happy and thinks that the training is more than just a friendly exchange of knowledge. He thinks it's a concrete act of support for Ukraine's armed forces.
The Danish Armed Forces also issued a statement, saying that it's nothing new for personnel to be present in Ukraine for experience-sharing purposes, but this has always been limited to higher-ranking officials. And, contrary to initial reports, these conversations don't involve sending troops to train or educate Ukrainian troops on the ground.
So, there you have it. Denmark might be eyeing Ukraine for some educational smackdowns, but it's not a done deal yet. And, according to Russia, this might not be the best idea. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
