Unveiling the new cast members set to portray Harry, Hermione, and Ron in HBO Max's forthcoming "Harry Potter" series.

In a significant announcement on Tuesday, HBO unveiled the actors cast for the lead roles in the upcoming "Harry Potter" series on its streaming platform HBO Max. Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will portray Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley, respectively.

These newest faces of the young wizards first enchanted readers across the globe nearly three decades ago with the release of J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" in 1997. The upcoming series will follow the seven popular books, each of which were previously adapted into movies featuring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint.

The new cast was chosen after a comprehensive open audition that saw over 30,000 children participating, according to BBC News. Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer Mark Mylod expressed excitement about the trio, stating, "The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen."

The upcoming series promises to be a faithful adaptation of the books, spanning a decade, according to HBO. In related news, John Lithgow, who won an Emmy for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in "The Crown," was cast as Albus Dumbledore last month.

BBC News reported that McLaughlin will appear in the UK family comedy movie "Grow" later this year, as well as a BBC action-adventure series, while Stanton previously portrayed the titular character in "Matilda The Musical" in London. No official release date for the new "Harry Potter" series has been announced as of yet, but according to BBC News, it could potentially air as early as 2026.
