Unveiling the Methods Behind Dark Universe Securing the Permission to Recreate Dr. Frankenstein's Saga, Leaving Spectators Astonished
Universal Secures Historic Rights for "The Frankenstein Experiment: Monsters Unchained"
Universal Studios has made a significant discovery, unearthing a century-old contract that allows them to use the likeness of actor Colin Clive in their new theme park attraction, The Frankenstein Experiment: Monsters Unchained.
Chris Frisella, Executive Producer for the Dark Universe land in Epic Universe, revealed that a lawyer worded the contract in such a way that almost a century later Universal could use Clive's likeness for the attraction. The legal team at Universal carefully dug through nearly century-old contracts related to the original Frankenstein production to confirm that they still held the rights to use his likeness.
The Dark Universe, inspired by the Universal Monsters, is a key part of Epic Universe. Set decades after the events of the movie Frankenstein, it features multiple callbacks to the original, with Victoria Frankenstein, the character in Monsters Unchained, being canonically the granddaughter of the doctor from Universal's original Frankenstein. The authenticity of the Dark Universe's attractions contributes to the overall quality of the Epic Universe theme park.
The attraction Monsters Unchained introduces Dr. Victor Frankenstein's granddaughter, Victoria, and the use of Colin Clive's likeness in the Dark Universe adds to the attraction's authenticity. Many consider Monsters Unchained to be the best attraction at Epic Universe, and the Dark Universe is the writer's favorite land in the park.
The search for the contract after almost 100 years was likely a challenging task, but it was necessary due to potential legal complexities. It is speculated that Universal would have sought the rights to Clive's likeness from his family if the contract hadn't been found.
Universal Studios Hollywood theme park came much later than Universal welcoming visitors to its backlot as early as 1915. The Universal Studio Tour only celebrated its 60th anniversary last year. Epic Universe, with its incredible attractions like Monsters Unchained, is a testament to Universal's enduring love for storytelling and their commitment to creating immersive experiences for their visitors.
