Unveiling the Esoteric Treasures and Hidden Mysteries of Khalim's Gloomy Medieval Village in Doom

Blueprint for Loot Hunting

Welcome to the initial lesson in demon slaying, where the first mission of Doom: The Dark Ages is packed with treasures waiting to be found. You'll encounter a whopping 6 secrets and 5 collectibles scattered across this opening level. No need to spend hours searching yourself, as I've already dug up every secret nook and cranny for you.

Here's your treasure map for all the secrets and collectibles in sequential order, allowing you to grab them as you breeze through the mission.

The Hidden Jewels of Doom: The Dark Ages

The opening level of Doom: The Dark Ages boasts a total of 6 secrets and 5 collectibles, consisting of 2 codex entries, 2 collectible toys, and a single weapon skin to start off your collection. To keep things simple, I've combined them based on where you'll find them.

Secret #1 - Life Sigil

This secret is tucked behind a barricade in a small room after the Power Gauntlet tutorial. All you need to do is complete the melee tutorial, then head into the next room. Use your trusty shield bash on the wooden barricade on the left to unveil the hidden area and grab your first Life Sigil, a handy consumable that revives you if you perish.

Secret #2 - Imp Toy (collectible)

You'll stumble upon the imp doll, the first collectible, behind a locked gate that requires a blue key to access. As the story progresses, you'll retrieve the blue key, allowing you to return to the main gate and continue your journey. Before going through the main gate, however, veer left and retrace your steps down the alley where you snatched the key. Walk up to the blue gate on the right side of this path, and voila! You'll have your first prize.

Secret #3 - Life Sigil

This life sigil is located at the base of the big statue in the arena after you unlock the large blue padlocked gate. To open the obstacle obstructing this easy-to-spot "secret" sigil, you'll need a purple key, situated next to the demonic portal on the left side of the map, near where you'll receive the Shredder weapon. Once you've got the purple key, go back to the statue and claim your reward.

Secret #4 - Soldier Toy (collectible)

You'll find the soldier doll tucked away in a coastal cave. From the Shredder weapon drop on the left side of the map, simply take a leap of faith off the edge straight ahead to discover the cave directly beneath the demonic portal.

Secret #5 - Nightmare Combat Shotgun Skin (collectible)

This special skin for your combat shotgun is tucked away close to the soldier doll. Venture back to the Shredder weapon pod once more:

  1. veer right to find the ledge overlooking the water inlet with a crane above
  2. Run and jump to reach the cave opening on your right
  3. Beat the combat encounter that appears, minding not to blow yourself up
  4. Grab the item from the back of the cave

Secret #6 - Doom Slayer Codex Entry (collectible)

The Doom Slayer codex entry, which provides some insight into the game's badass protagonist, can be found on the cliffs directly behind the massive statue where you enter the area with demonic portals. Choose either the left or right path leading behind the statue and fight your way up the hill to the demonic portal. After clearing it, snag the codex entry on the top of the hill.

Secret #7 - Village of Khalim Codex Entry (collectible)

The final secret in the opening mission is the Village of Khalim codex entry. Once you've conquered the demonic portals, make your way to the beach and defeat the combat encounter. Carry on toward the finale, and you'll spot a ledge on the right that you can ascend. Snatch the codex entry, then call it a day on this mission.

Now that you know what treasures to seek, set out to conquer Doom: The Dark Ages in style!
