Unveiling of the Initiative
The much-anticipated Festival is set to open with the production of Otello, a captivating opera that promises to enthrall music lovers. This production will feature Tenor Fabio Sartori and the new baritone star, Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar, in lead roles.
Meanwhile, the intimate and experimental production of Macbeth, a first version from 1847 for the Pergola in Florence, will take place at the Teatro Regio. Vito Priante and Andrea Borghini are set to interpret the roles in this innovative production, while Marily Santoro and Maria Cristina Bellantuomo will portray the Ladies.
The production of Otello, set in the music-loving city of Parma, will see Mariangela Sicilia as Desdemona. The sets for Otello are designed by Margherita Palli, and Giovanna Buzzi has designed the costumes.
Director Federico Tiezzi is overseeing the production of Otello, and Conductor Roberto Abbado is making his debut at the Regio. The Orchestra Giovanile Italiana is guided by Lanzillotta in the production of Macbeth.
While the director for the Macbeth production at the Teatro Regio remains undisclosed, it is worth noting that Luca Micheletti is listed as the director for a production of Macbeth at Teatro La Fenice.
Otello, Verdi's penultimate opera, is not to be missed. The score of Macbeth, with its experimental approach, is also a must-see for opera enthusiasts. The productions of both Otello and Macbeth are set to run from September 27 to October 17.
