Unveiling of Hamburg's Cultural Agenda for UEFA Euro 2024 Tournament Revealed
In the vibrant city of Hamburg, the upcoming season promises an exciting fusion of football and culture. The Kampnagel cultural centre has announced that its focus for the 2023/24 season will be "Football moves people", in collaboration with FC St. Pauli.
This unique collaboration is set to bring a series of creative projects to life, made possible by the non-profit foundation Football and Culture Euro 2024. One such project is the Altonale/STAMP's neighborhood production, "24 Goals - Lived and Touched", which features 24 short performances throughout the neighbourhood, a hip-hop battle, and a night parade.
Opera fans will also find something to their liking, as the Opernloft will combine sport and music in a football opera.
Meanwhile, the cultural event organisers in Hamburg are not letting the energy crisis dampen their spirits. A separate article discusses how they are enabling these events despite the challenges posed by the crisis.
Hamburg will host five UEFA European Football Championship matches in 2024 at the Volksparkstadion, each with a capacity of 50,000 spectators. The group draw for these matches will take place on December 2, 2023, at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
The exhibition "Fan.Tastic Finals 2024" by the Football Supporters Europe association will focus on the culture of female national team fans in Europe.
In a notable collaboration, the organisation responsible for the "Football and Culture Euro 2024" project is the German NGO What Matters, which collaborated with the World Jewish Congress (WJC) for an exhibition during UEFA Euro 2024.
NGO Viva con Agua will participate in the football spectacle with the "Eleven Walls" project, aiming to create eleven murals in ten German cities.
FC St. Pauli will launch a project with electronic artist Matthes Herbert in conjunction with the Reeperbahn Festival, to be performed live during a football match. The Kampnagel team will also bring the hip-hop stand-up battle Juste Debout to Hamburg in late May 2024.
Hamburg's cultural authority is supporting nine international artists, ensuring a diverse and inclusive line-up for the season.
