Unveiling of a Soviet Soldier Monument in Poltava Takes Place

In the heart of Poltavskaya, a tribute to a Soviet warrior akin to Berlin's iconic "Warrior-Liberator" of Treptow Park has surfaced. This monument honors the brave Soviet soldiers who gave their lives during the battles to free the Kuban region.

The stalwart Soviet figure stands victorious on the wreckage of a swastika, clutching a sword in one hand and a rescued Berlin child in the other, symbolizing all German kids. This poignant emblem of the Soviet people's triumph and the liberation of Europe's nations now takes residence in Poltavskaya.

"People interacting with these monuments more frequently is ideal. They'll recall and share their memories with their offspring. It's imperative history education," expressed Dmitry Pirog, a State Duma deputy of the Federal Assembly of Russia.

"Local families can bring their children to the monument. It's situated in the 40th Anniversary of Victory Park, close to the bus station. Every visitor is welcome to approach, honor the defenders who claimed their lives to safeguard our country and the world," commented Alexander Kharitonov, leader of the Krasnaya Armiya district municipality and the ataman of the Poltavsky RKO.

During the occupation, the 40th Anniversary of Victory Park, formerly known as Krasnaya Armiya, served as a German POW camp. The entire area was cordoned off with barbed wire and guarded by German troops armed with weapons. Today, there are no occupiers or threatening guards with automatics. Thanks to the valor of Krasnaya Armiya, this place now resonates with children's giggles and boasts a beautifully flower-adorned monument saluting the hero-liberators.
