Unveiling of a Graphic Commentary on a Unicorn's Class Death: A Bloody and Brilliant Unleashing

In the upcoming creature feature from A24, "Death of a Unicorn", Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega star as a father-daughter duo who find themselves caught in a deadly conflict when they accidentally hit and kill a mystical creature during a family weekend at the secluded mansion of Rudd's billionaire boss, Odell Leopold.

The plot follows Elliot Kintner (Rudd) and his daughter Ridley as they navigate through a series of bizarre events. After striking a small unicorn, Ridley touches the injured creature, experiencing cosmic visions. Desperate to hide their mistake, they attempt to nurse the unicorn back to health, but it is later shot by Leopold's assistant.

As the unicorn's healing properties become evident, the Leopold family, led by Belinda (Teá Leoni) and Shepard (Will Poulter), become obsessed with exploiting its powers for their own gain. Belinda seeks notoriety from the unicorn's existence, while Shepard wants to fashion its blood into a designer drug. Odell, played by Richard E. Grant, is determined to replicate the unicorn's blood to advance medical science, even curing cancer.

However, when larger unicorns retaliate to avenge their kin, a deadly conflict ensues, and Elliot is compelled to join a hunting party organized by Leopold. Ridley, horrified by the exploitation of the unicorn, tries to save the creature, but her efforts are unsuccessful.

"Death of a Unicorn" explores themes of human greed, the ethical consequences of exploiting magical creatures for profit, family dynamics, and the dangers of corporate and scientific overreach. The film blends dark fantasy with horror and thriller elements, emphasizing both mystical wonder and brutal human selfishness.

The ending hints at an ambiguous fate for the protagonists, with suggestions that the unicorns might intervene again, underscoring the tension between destruction and supernatural justice. The ensemble cast includes Anthony Carrigan, Sunita Mani, Steve Park, and Jessica Hynes.

"Death of a Unicorn" is a satire of societal struggles against the tone-deaf rich, promising a genre mashup of comedy, fantasy, and horror. Catch it in theaters on March 28.
