Unveiling MathMan: A New Mathematical Aid on the Block

MathMan, a versatile producer known for his work in breakbeat, UK garage, and jungle, has released his latest concept album, SK83 (The Prequel). This unique piece takes a nostalgic journey through the sounds of Dublin in the year 1998, delivered with contemporary finesse.

The album tells a love story, with 'Young Hearts' and 'Friends Are First' being the emotional manifestation of the story's mood and feeling. It is a 3-part series, with Part II written, ready, mixed, and mastered, expected to release by the end of the year.

MathMan's Dublin upbringing and continued commitment to producing art make him a unique figure in the music industry. His album was initially meant to be released on two different labels, but both deals fell through because they wanted to split it up into EPs or singles. Undeterred, MathMan decided to release SK83 (The Prequel) on vinyl via his own imprint, Weapon Of Choice.

Weapon of Choice, founded in 2016, is dedicated to supporting various forms of bass music, including jungle, drum & bass, breakbeat, and grime. It has been an inspiration for the Irish bass music scene, particularly the label Bassbin who did incredible work promoting drum & bass in Ireland.

MathMan's collaboration with Ayah Marar on 'Home' came about because MathMan has been a huge fan of her work in various capacities, including her voice in the bass music scene. 'Home', a powerful track, is about the idea of home as a feeling, not just a place.

The album also features Blak Diamon. SK83 (The Prequel) is not just an album of club singles, but a concept piece with a wider meaning that unfolds throughout the album. Its title, SK83 (The Prequel), suggests that this release is a precursor or introduction to a forthcoming project. The exact meaning of SK83 remains unclear, but it could be a code, year, or a personal/reference number meaningful to MathMan.

The album artwork was created by Irish photographer Jacobi Hoff. MathMan prefers to release albums rather than singles, as he believes in the value of a body of work from an artist. SK83 (The Prequel) is set in suburban Dublin during a particular era, offering a glimpse into the past while maintaining a modern edge.

In 'Young Hearts', we find a story about being young and in love, while 'Friends Are First' is on the back end of the album, where the love story really starts to reveal itself. With its unique blend of nostalgia and contemporary sounds, SK83 (The Prequel) is a must-listen for fans of MathMan and bass music alike.

The unique blend of nostalgia and contemporary sounds in MathMan's album, SK83 (The Prequel), makes it an entertainment piece that will resonate with fans of bass music. The album's tracks, such as 'Young Hearts' and 'Friends Are First', are musical expressions of the love story it tells, showcasing MathMan's skills as a versatile producer in the music industry.
