Unveiling event for the freshly established Regional Council in Essenbach
New Landratsamt Building in Landshut District Officially Opens
The Landratsamt administration in the Landshut District is set to move to a new building on October 6, following a series of events marking the culmination of a long-anticipated project.
The new district office, located at Josef-Neumeier-Allee 1 in Essenbach, was won in an architectural competition by the Stuttgart-based firm dasch zürn + partner in 2019. The architectural firm has designed a building that seamlessly blends with the surrounding landscape, making it accessible for both employees and visitors.
Landrat Peter Dreier, who outlined the course of the project, aimed to overcome space shortages and consolidate units under one roof. The project faced differing opinions and unexpected challenges during construction, but solutions were always found.
The Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann was the keynote speaker at the ceremony, emphasizing the importance of a modern administration for a region. He congratulated the Landratsamt on this significant milestone in its history. The Bavarian Economic Affairs Minister Hubert Aiwanger also congratulated the Landratsamt, highlighting the benefits for local companies due to short distances, clear structures, and a service-oriented interaction under one roof.
To facilitate a smooth transition, the Landratsamt has founded its own municipal company, LAKUBAU, to manage the construction and maintenance of the building. LAKUBAU worked with excellent planning and construction companies during the project. Thomas Stöckl, the chairman of LAKUBAU, shared personal stories from the construction process.
An open house day is planned for November 9, 2025, providing an opportunity for the public to tour the new building. Information on accessibility and regulations during the transition period will be published in advance.
The new district administration building in Essenbach was resolved by the district council in 2017, following a resolution from the constitutive meeting of the Kreistag of the Landshut district after the territorial reform in 1972, which stated that the Landratsamt should eventually move from the city area to the district.
On September 17, 2025, Helmut Dasch from the executing architectural firm dasch zuern + partner handed over the symbolic key to the new house owner, expressing his satisfaction with the outcome of the project. Landrat Peter Dreier was thanked for his trust in Thomas Stöckl and his employees.
This new building marks an exciting chapter in the history of the Landshut District, signifying a modern and accessible administration for the region.
