Get ready for a deep dive into the fantastical world of Moon Knight, the Marvel series streaming on Disney Plus that had everyone buzzing at The Art of Costume! This show promises a visual feast, featuring Meghan Kasperlik's breathtaking designs, which landed her yet another Emmy® nomination for Outstanding Fantasy/Sci-Fi Costumes.

If you're curious about what goes into bringing Egyptian gods to life on the small screen, Kasperlik recently spilled the beans on The Art of Costume Blogcast! You can listen now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube.

One glance at Kasperlik's work for Moon Knight, and it's clear that the entire team put in hours of research. With characters inspired by Egyptian mythology, how else could it be?

As for the Moon Knight armor, let's just say it's a masterpiece! With intricate textures and details, it leaves you in awe. During an interview with Kasperlik, she shared some fascinating behind-the-scenes secrets about its creation.

Collaborating closely with the visual development department, Kasperlik expressed the challenge of perfecting the color. Given the comic's predominantly white fabric for Moon Knight's suit, she wanted to ensure it didn't end up too flat on screen. To add depth, she went all in on texture, with subtle 3D printed prints covering every inch of the armor.

When crafting Mr. Knight's costume, Kasperlik knew she had to capture that eye-catching lapel. To accomplish this, she layered euro jersey with 3D printed feather designs and leather bandolier straps that mirror those on Khonshu's costume.

Up next is the Khonshu costume; you might think it was impractical to create, but Kasperlik proved us wrong! Drawn from the comic, Khonshu saves Marc Spector and comes from Ancient Egypt. To incorporate mummy wrappings, Kasperlik used six different fabrics, dyed and aged each piece before hand-sewing thousands of layers.

Even Taweret, the hippopotamus goddess, rocked a practical costume! Every piece below the neck was made for the actor to wear, with the face, hands, and hippo CGI.

The Scarlet Scarab costume, revealed in the season finale, took our breath away! Though the wings were CGI, the rest of the costume was made practical so that the stunt team could move freely.

One of our favorite costume reveals was Ammit, the fearsome crocodile goddess who managed to be both terrifying and...chic. Like the other Egyptian gods, Ammit's costume was made practically by Kasperlik, featuring multiple layers, beaded dresses, and a beautifully sculpted cobra.

Even in the horrifying Heka Priest scene, which made us squirm, we couldn't deny the attention to detail in the costume, with canopic jars, hieroglyphs, and quill-like metal pieces.

We can't wait to see what Meghan Kasperlik has in store for future Marvel projects! In the meantime, be sure to catch Moon Knight, streaming now on Disney Plus.

The intricate costume designs in Moon Knight, showcased by Meghan Kasperlik, blend seamlessly with the lifestyle concept of the fashion-and-beauty industry, offering a hint of what's to come in the realm of movies-and-tv and entertainment. For those eager to learn more about the creative process behind these breathtaking designs, Kasperlik's in-depth discussions on The Art of Costume Blogcast provide valuable insights.
