Unveiled identity of the individual who purchased Katie Price's allegedly cursed Mucky Mansion for a price tag of £1.1 million, as the celebrity herself expresses her concerns about the property's supposed supernatural aura.
Merker and Qu Renovate Katie Price's Mucky Mansion
James Mercer, a furniture tycoon, has purchased Katie Price's run-down West Sussex home, known as the Mucky Mansion, for £1.15 million in January. The home, which sits on 12 acres of land, was initially priced at £1.5 million but saw multiple price reductions.
Price, a former glamour model, made a loss on the sale, having paid more than Mercer. The house was left in a state of disrepair, with an empty swimming pool and many rooms in desperate need of renovation. The show documenting Price's attempts to renovate the home, "Katie Price: Mucky Mansion", was axed after two series', shortly before Price was ordered to move out of the house via an eviction order.
Price faced personal tragedy at the Mucky Mansion, with a multitude of her animals dying while living there. Tragically, both her horse and her German Shepherd were killed at the home, as well as a dog she bought for her daughter Princess.
Merker and his partner, Leike Qu, are currently renovating the house. Qu, co-owner of the house, stated that they are ordinary and quiet people who fell in love with the country house. Scaffolding surrounds the mansion during the renovation process.
The couple has set aside a substantial amount of money for renovations, with work already underway. Mercer admitted to the Daily Mail that the house was left "mucky" and in need of work by its previous owner. Any money made from the sale of the home will be swallowed up by the debts Price ran up while living there.
Price was forced out of the dilapidated home in May after failing to meet payments on two mortgages and being served an eviction notice following her second bankruptcy. The home has since become notorious due to its dilapidated state and legal challenges during Price's ownership.
