Unveiled: First Star for Strictly 2025 Revealed; Anticipation Grows Over Additional Participants
Strictly Come Dancing is set to return to screens next month, and one of the most exciting contestants announced for the upcoming series is none other than Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, better known as Nitro from the popular show Gladiators.
Harry made a splash in the world of sports at a young age, winning the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award in 2005 at just 17 years old. His impressive athletic career includes two Olympic Games, three European Championships, and two Commonwealth Championships. He also holds the unique distinction of being the first athlete to win gold medals at both 100 and 200 metres at the World Youth Championships.
Harry's participation in Strictly Come Dancing was strongly rumored following his success in the festive special last year. The BBC officially announced his participation on the CBBC show Newsround, and the Gladiator turned dancer expressed his excitement about being part of the Strictly Come Dancing family for the upcoming series.
Harry has already demonstrated his energy and enthusiasm on the dance floor during the 2024 Christmas Special, and he promises to continue bringing that same spirit to the competition.
Joining Harry in the 2025 series are a diverse group of celebrities, including Dani Dyer, Alex Kingston, and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, among others. The total number of participants this year is 15, as confirmed by the BBC. The show will air on BBC One starting from September 20, 2025.
In addition, the BBC will announce the next three celebrities for Strictly Come Dancing 2025 on The One Show tonight at 7 pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
