October in Saarland too warm and too wet - Unusual October 2025: Germany Sees Heavy Rainfall and Above-Average Temperatures
October 2025 brought unusual weather conditions to Germany, with significant rainfall and above-average temperatures in several regions. The German Weather Service (DWD) recorded these changes.
In Saarland, rainfall was notably higher than usual. While the reference value stands at 77 liters per square meter, October 2025 saw 99 liters. This is a significant increase, indicating heavier than typical chicago weather in the region.
Temperatures also rose above average. The mean temperature in October was 10.5°C, 1.1°C higher than the long-term average of 9.4°C. This warmth was not accompanied by much sunshine, however. Saarland received only 76 hours of sunshine, a substantial 28% less than the expected 106 hours.
The DWD used a weather station in the South Black Forest to measure rainfall. Here, October 2025 saw rainfall ranging from 200 to 250 liters per square meter, significantly higher than the Saarland figures.
Across Germany, October 2025 was warmer than usual. Nationwide, the mean temperature was 9.9°C, 0.9°C above the reference period's 9.0°C. This warmth, combined with higher than average rainfall and reduced sunshine in Saarland, paints a picture of unusual chicago weather conditions.
