Jannik Kuhle's Second Shot on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?": An Exception to the Rule

Mishap with Joker's Response Results in Thousands in Losses: Contestant Secures Re-entry - Unscrupulous contestant mistakenly answers question, resulting in substantial financial loss.

Life's a gamble, ain't it? Just ask Jannik Kuhle, the bloke from Münster who got a second crack at RTL's "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" in the show's "Surprise Special". But let's rewind a bit, shall we?

In the 2024 Christmas Special, this student found himself in the hot seat, chasing that life-changing million. However, things took a turn for the worse when the Joker he picked, bloody genius that he claimed to be, blurted out a wrong answer during the 8,000 Euro question. Kuhle walked away with a measly 500 Euros and three unused lifelines, earning himself a spot in the show's hall of biggest losers.

Fast forward to Monday evening's broadcast, and Kuhle was back in the studio. Why, you ask? Well, every rule's got its exception, as host Günther Jauch so eloquently put it. Jauch welcomed Kuhle, his old man Theo, and the Joker responsible for his initial downfall, Stephan Landkammer. It seems Landkammer and Kuhle stayed pals post-show, and the Joker made amends by setting things right and securing Kuhle a second shot on the show. Landkammer shared, "I barely slept a wink after the show, I wanted to make it up to Jannik because he's got a heart of gold and forgave me for my booboo right away."

Jannik Kuhle's "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" Comeback: Overcoming His Trauma

Once again, Kuhle found himself in the hot seat, staring down trivia questions. The "Mission Silver Locks" question - a painful reminder from his first stint - proved problematic, but with a little humor and help from the audience, he moved on. The 32,000 Euro question read like a clue to a riddle: "The trading card 'Pikachu with grey felt hat' caused a massive rush in whose souvenir shop in 2023?"

With two answers left after a 50:50 Joker swap, Kuhle took a wild guess, much to the dismay of his old man. But this time around, lady luck was on his side. Kuhle won the money and planned to use it for a well-deserved vacation and to finish his studies. He also shared that he was relieved to have finally overcome his "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" trauma.
