Unrest Emerges as Government official Alia Remains Mute on the Disappearance of Aide and Politico

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Daniel Ihomun, on Thursday, the Austin Agada-led faction of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State has expressed deep concern over the sudden disappearance of Principal Special Assistant on Youth and Media Mobilisation, Atu Terver, and social activist Jerry Asom.

Atu Terver, a senior aide to Governor Hyacinth Alia, went missing in Abuja on Tuesday. Terver's wife, Civir, has confirmed the news of his disappearance, but as of the time of speaking, she does not have any useful information about his whereabouts.

The statement from the Austin Agada-led faction also criticised Governor Alia's silence on the matter, describing it as "disturbing." They believe that these incidents create deep fear and uncertainty among the people of Benue.

Another person, social media activist Jerry Asom, is also currently unaccounted for. His disappearance has sparked speculation about potential arrest or abduction. However, the Benue State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, has stated that she has no information on the alleged arrest of Jerry Asom.

Regarding Atu Terver's case, DSP Udeme Edet also clarified that Terver's disappearance occurred in Abuja, not in Benue State. Terver was expected in Abuja but did not arrive. The case has been reported at the police station in Abuja, and they are currently investigating.

The statement from the Austin Agada-led faction stated that these incidents strike at the heart of public trust in the government and the security agencies mandated to protect citizens. They called on the government and the security agencies to take immediate action to ensure the safety and well-being of the missing individuals.

As of now, no organization or institution has been reported to be investigating or monitoring the disappearance of Atu Terver and Jerry Asom. The Benue Assembly has not been mentioned in this matter. The state government has not been in contact with Civir since Terver went missing.

The incidents are a cause for concern, and the Austin Agada-led faction urges the government and the security agencies to act swiftly to restore public trust and ensure the safety of its citizens. The fate of Atu Terver and Jerry Asom remains unknown, and hope for their safe return continues.
