Unresolved matters persist in Caroline Bosbach's case, as observed by the CDU.

In a series of events, the CDU district executive of Rhein-Berg has held meetings to discuss allegations against CDU federal parliamentarian Caroline Bosbach. The allegations centre around her election to the executive board of the Mittelstands- und Wirtschaftsunion (MIT) in her Rheinisch-Bergischer constituency in 2023.

Bosbach has been under scrutiny due to allegations that she offered cash payments and free catering in exchange for votes during her election to the MIT board. The allegations, which include promises of payments around €90–100 for entry into MIT and offering complimentary catering to secure leadership team election votes, have not been satisfactorily answered, according to the district executive.

In response to these allegations, Bosbach has denied any wrongdoing. She stated in a video published on her social media channels that she has not enriched herself and that the CDU Rhein-Berg has suffered no damage. Bosbach also supports an independent review of all relevant documents by the Cologne public prosecutor's office and insists on transparency.

However, Bosbach did not make herself available for questions during the meeting with the district executive, and her responses have not been made public yet. The district executive is waiting for written answers from Bosbach by Friday of this week.

The district executive has posed several questions to Bosbach, including those regarding financial inducements and the use of party funds. The exact questions remain confidential, but they centre on clarifying these accusations.

The CDU initially set a deadline for Bosbach to answer these questions by August 8, 2025, but postponed the scheduled board meeting to facilitate a personal meeting between Bosbach and local CDU representatives to discuss the allegations and plan next steps.

It is important to note that Bosbach has also denied allegations made by Stern, RTL/ntv, t-online, and Kontraste, which include claims of receiving 2,500 euros from a CDU party account via a roundabout route.

Bosbach is known for her appearance on the RTL show "Let's Dance" and is the daughter of the former CDU interior politician Wolfgang Bosbach.

The district executive will meet again on Saturday to evaluate the situation. Bosbach has welcomed the decision of the district executive to hand over all documents to the Cologne public prosecutor's office for independent review.

  1. The allegations against Caroline Bosbach, involving questionable actions during her election to the Mittelstands-und Wirtschaftsunion (MIT) board, have instigated a review of policy-and-legislation within the CDU party, as the district executive demands transparency and answers regarding financial inducements and the use of party funds.
  2. The ongoing political controversy surrounding Caroline Bosbach, including accusations of offering cash payments and free catering in exchange for votes, has escalated to involve not only the CDU district executive of Rhein-Berg but also general-news media outlets such as Stern, RTL/ntv, t-online, and Kontraste, raising concerns about the integrity of politics in the region.
