Unregistered John Catsimatidis Jr. bankrolls anti-Zohran Moinul Islam election efforts, bypassing NYC Campaign Finance Board regulations.
In the political landscape of New York City, a new player has entered the game with the formation of the Progress & Prosperity PAC. This political action committee was incorporated anonymously in Delaware on July 29, 2025.
The entity, which filed paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission, is under the stewardship of Georgia-based GOP operative Jason Boles and Virginia attorney John Pence. Pence, who served as an adviser to Trump's 2020 campaign and is the nephew of former Vice President Mike Pence and the son of GOP Rep. Greg Pence of Indiana, stated that Boles' reputation is one of high regard, which is why he was brought in by House leadership.
John Catsimatidis Sr., an associate of President Donald Trump and a one-time Gracie Mansion contender, is the voice behind a radio spot titled 'Stop Socialism, Save Our City' that was financed by Progress & Prosperity PAC and aired on Aug. 1, 2025. The spot targeted Assembly Member Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic mayoral nominee.
John Catsimatidis Jr., son of billionaire John Catsimatidis Sr., launched the political committee this summer. Catsimatidis Jr. described John Pence as a 'friend' who had recommended Boles. However, the person who registered Progress & Prosperity PAC as a founding member in July 2025 before reporting to the city Campaign Finance Board has not been publicly disclosed.
It's important to note that the political committee, Progress & Prosperity PAC, is not registered with the city's Campaign Finance Board. After publication, John Pence wrote to City & State that Boles' affiliation with George Santos' campaign came after Santos' campaign finance issues.
Jason Boles is an associate of GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia. Boles briefly worked as treasurer to former Long Island Rep. George Santos. After publication, John Catsimatidis Sr. and attorney John Pence provided statements contesting parts of the initial reporting about the extent of John Catsimatidis Sr.'s involvement in his son's PAC, the nature of a Hamptons event featuring Curtis Sliwa, and how his media company was paid to air spots for his son's PAC featuring him.
Neither Pence nor Boles responded to an emailed request for comment before this story was published. The radio spot was directed by John Catsimatidis Jr. to queries about the campaign. John Catsimatidis Sr. also stated that he is trying to build infrastructure to combat Democratic Socialists of America and socialism nationwide.
