Unravelling the Truth: Insights into the Alleged Actions
In the Heart of Rockland: A Resident Takes on the 2024 Senate Race
All eyes are on Sloatsburg's local resident, Diane Sare, who has dared to challenge the outcomes of the 2024 United States Senate election in Rockland County. Sare, representing the Lyndon LaRouche Party, isn't seeking a change of heart but rather the upholding of the principle of election integrity.
According to SMART Legislation, a watchdog group that took up the legal action, Diane Sare and a couple of other voters believe the Rockland Board of Elections overlooked them during the vote tabulation process. Although this oversight wouldn't tip the results, it's a matter of election fairness, as SMART Legislation contends.
The lawsuit filed by SMART Legislation also scrutinizes some of the Rockland vote totals, particularly in the Ramapo districts. These areas are noted for their strong clustered voting, commonly observed amongst Hasidic Jews who traditionally vote in large numbers as a bloc for specific candidates, potentially shutting out other candidates.
county government spokesperson Beth Cefalu expressed faith in the Board of Elections' actions, declaring that every vote was accurately counted. However, she noted the County Executive's Office had no operational involvement with the Board of Elections and passed on any further questions to the state.
Justice Rachel Tanguay has ordered both sides to dig deeper into the evidence, take testimonies, and prepare for a Septembber 22 court session. The lawsuit seeks a hand recount of the thousands of votes in the presidential and Senate contests that took place in November, as per SMART Legislation. Lulu Friesdat, founder and executive director of SMART Legislation, emphasizes the importance of confirming the election's validity, especially given present circumstances.
"We must unambiguously believe in the legitimacy of the election results," Friesdat says.
The lawsuit claims that up to hundreds of votes in Rockland County might have been overlooked, pointing to missing ballots, undercounted votes for Diane Sare, and statistical anomalies. In District 39, nine voters claimed to have cast their votes for Sare, yet only five were recorded. Similarly, five voters in District 62 stated they voted for Sare, but only three were counted, according to the lawsuit.
The group's analysis of Rockland's voting data revealed drop-off irregularities. These irregularities, according to SMART Legislation, require exceptional sociological or political explanations and could benefit from increased scrutiny.
And so, the stage is set for Diane Sare's bid to unravel the mysteries around Rockland's 2024 Senate election. Friesdat's coalition insists that transparency, accuracy, and public faith in the election system are crucial—now more than ever.
