India A and Australia A End First Unofficial Test in a Draw

The opening match of the two-match unofficial Test series between India A and Australia A, held at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, concluded in a draw due to rain washing out the final day's play.

On Day 3, India A found themselves trailing Australia A by 416 runs. However, a significant partnership between Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal helped stabilize India A's innings. Jurel scored 140 runs, while Padikkal went on to score a well-crafted century, notching up 150 runs.

B Sai Sudharsan and N Jagadeesan also contributed with more than 50 runs each for India A. The team declared their innings at 531/7, setting up a thrilling finish to the match.

In response, Australia A declared their innings at 532, leaving India A with a target of 118 runs to win. However, rain intervened, preventing any further play and resulting in a draw.

The second four-dayer of the series will commence in Lucknow from September 23.

In the first innings, Australia A had posted a formidable total of 647/9, with Sam Konstas scoring 109 and Josh Philippe remaining unbeaten on 123. For India A, only Yashasvi Jaiswal managed to reach the 50-run mark, scoring 57.

At the end of Day 4, Australia finished at 56/0, with Sam Konstas and Campbell Kellaway remaining unbeaten at 27 and 24 respectively. India A started Day 4 at 403/4, trailing Australia A by 129 runs. They ended the day at the same score, with 7 wickets down.

The unofficial Test series between India A and Australia A promises to be an exciting showcase of young talent from both countries. The second match, starting next week, will be eagerly awaited by cricket fans.
