Unnamed Atlanta individual detained, facing charges for burglary and possessing unpublished Beyoncé recordings
In a series of events that have left the music industry buzzing, Kelvin Evans finds himself in legal trouble after an alleged vehicle break-in in Atlanta.
On Aug. 25, Kelvin Evans was arrested on suspicion of felony motor vehicle theft, with the stolen items from the break-in pinging from the address where he lives at 370 North Ave. in Hapeville. The vehicle break-in occurred while Beyoncé was prepping for her "Cowboy Carter" shows in Atlanta.
Christopher Grant, Beyoncé's choreographer, and Diandre Blue, a dancer, lost belongings in the break-in, including unreleased music tracks and hard drives containing unreleased Beyoncé music. The stolen AirPods were among the items recovered.
Surveillance cameras in a nearby parking garage captured the break-in, with a suspect leaving the scene in a black Hyundai Elantra. The black Hyundai Elantra was a rental and had been signed out to Santana Evans on the night of the break-in. Santana Evans briefly loaned the car to someone identified as Kelvin Evans, who was later arrested.
Four previously unseen black suitcases appeared in the back of the rented car during the time it was loaned to Kelvin Evans. Jail records did not show if Evans had hired or been assigned a criminal defense lawyer.
Kelvin Evans is being held in jail in lieu of $20,000 bail and is accused of both the vehicle theft and violating terms of his probation. He initially asked to borrow the car for 5 minutes but kept it for 30 minutes. The stolen items have not yet been recovered.
The search results do not contain information about the lawyer representing Kelvin Evans in the larceny case related to interrupting Beyoncé's performance in Atlanta. Beyoncé played four "Cowboy Carter" shows between July 10 and 14 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
As the investigation continues, the music industry awaits updates on the stolen items and the fate of the accused. Kelvin Evans was still in jail on Wednesday.
