Unmatched Netflix Series Assessment: After nearly a year, no 2025 series has surpassed my undisputed evaluation method
In the ever-expanding world of streaming services, finding shows that are truly worth your time can be a daunting task. One writer has devised a unique method to sift through the vast array of content on Netflix – the Seinfeld Test.
The Seinfeld Test is a simple yet effective way to determine if a show is addictive and worth binge-watching or just forgettable. The writer, who is not addicted to Seinfeld, uses this test to gauge the quality of shows. If they find a show engaging, they click on the next episode. If not, they opt for Seinfeld.
Seinfeld, a popular box-set comedy, is available on Netflix in the US, UK, and Australia. The writer, despite having seen it too many times to watch again, holds it in high regard as one of their favourite comedies. Interestingly, in 2022, Seinfeld itself was one of the Netflix series that passed the Seinfeld test in Germany. The show, which has been on Netflix since October 2021, embodies the characteristics of the test perfectly as one of the greatest sitcoms of all time.
However, the writer's test does not apply to movies. For movies, the writer prefers Prime Video. This year, the writer has been interested in several series, including Andor season 2, Foundation season 3, The Studio, High Potential, and Black Doves. None of these series mentioned are Netflix Originals.
The writer hopes that Stranger Things season 5 and A Man on the Inside season 2, both scheduled for November, will be able to beat the test. Yet, the writer has found an increasing number of Netflix Originals this year to be irksome, with Untamed being a recent example. The last Netflix series the writer finished was Black Doves from last year.
The Seinfeld Test involves checking the 'Continue Watching' bar on Netflix, which includes recently watched shows and Seinfeld. The writer, who is the most down on Netflix among the website's writers, uses this bar to quickly decide if a show is worth their time. The Seinfeld Test has been successful in identifying high-quality shows on Netflix.
It's important to note that the Seinfeld Test is not used by the writer every day. But when the writer is in need of a new show to watch, this test provides a quick and effective way to make a decision. Whether you're a fan of Seinfeld or not, the Seinfeld Test could be a useful tool in your streaming arsenal.
