In a series of unprecedented events, Poland found itself at the centre of a drone incident last week, following a Russian attack on Ukraine on Tuesday night. A large number of drones entered Polish and NATO airspace, causing alarm and prompting immediate action.

The Polish air force and other NATO allies took action, shooting down some of the aerial vehicles for the first time. The Polish State Protection Service successfully neutralized a drone flying over government buildings in Warsaw. However, the type of drone involved in the incident remains unknown.

The Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, reported the incident on the X platform, and two Belarusian citizens were arrested in connection with the drone incident. Western politicians suggest that the airspace violation was not an accident, with some speculating that the drones could have been intended as a provocation or test of NATO's air defense.

Last week, Polish airspace was violated by Russian drones, with the drones shot down after entering Polish airspace presumed to have been launched from Belarus. Poland's Defense Minister stated these drones were clearly directed from Belarusian territory, although Russia denies involvement and claims no evidence supports the drones' Russian origin.

The Polish police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the drone incident, but it is still unclear whether the drones could have been used militarily or were programmed to destroy targets on NATO territory. Since then, Poland has received increased support from NATO allies.

The incident also involved the drone flying over the Belvedere Palace, the residence of the Polish President, adding a further layer of complexity to the unfolding situation. As the investigation continues, the international community watches with bated breath, awaiting answers and a resolution to this intriguing incident.
