On July 25, 2025, Russia's Defense Ministry reported a significant escalation in drone warfare with Ukraine, as its air defenses destroyed 105 Ukrainian drones across various regions of Russia[1]. The attacks, which occurred between Thursday night and Friday morning, were mainly focused on regions bordering Ukraine in western and southern Russia.

The regions affected included Bryansk, Rostov, Krasnodar, Kursk, Voronezh, Belgorod, and Stavropol[1]. In Belgorod, at least four people were injured due to drone attacks, while in Krasnodar, drone debris damaged a train station and injured two people[1].

The Stavropol region experienced its largest drone attack since the start of the full-scale invasion, with 37 drones downed, though no casualties were reported there[1]. Airports in southern Russia, including Sochi, faced temporary flight restrictions due to these attacks[1].

Ukrainian drone strikes targeted military and industrial facilities in regions like Stavropol, indicating the continued active drone warfare between the two sides[2][3].

The Ministry of Defense of Russia reported intercepting and destroying the drone aircraft in multiple regions. Specifically, eight drones were shot down over the Krasnodar Krai, nine over the Azov Sea, and 26 over the Belgorod region[1]. Additionally, 25 drones were shot down over the Bryansk region, 23 over the Rostov region, five over the Stavropol Krai, three over the territories of Kursk and Tambov regions, and one over the Oryol region[1].
