Trial involving over 120 neglected dogs: Suspended sentence for woman in Saxony-Anhalt - Unlicensed Dog Breeder Jailed for Shocking Animal Cruelty in Germany
A woman running an unlicensed dog breeding facility in Saxony-Anhalt has been sentenced for animal cruelty. The court handed her a one-year suspended prison term after inspections revealed widespread neglect. Over 120 dogs were found living in inhumane conditions at the site.
The operator was found guilty of two counts of animal cruelty. Investigations uncovered severe neglect, with inspections showing between seven and 92 dogs suffering in different checks. The exact total of affected animals remains unclear, as records from December 2024 were not available.
The woman has now been banned from keeping, caring for, or trading dogs. She is also prohibited from working professionally with them, except under supervision as a veterinary assistant.
A co-defendant was also convicted on two cruelty charges and fined €4,500. They received a three-year ban on owning or looking after dogs.
The case highlights the consequences of illegal breeding and neglect. The woman's suspended sentence and restrictions aim to prevent further harm to animals. Authorities will continue monitoring compliance with the court's orders.
