On Sunday, September 7, 2025, an illegal street racing incident occurred on the federal highway B70 in Vreden-Koekelwick, as confirmed by the Circular Police Authority Borken. According to the authorities, three high-performance cars - two Porsche 911s and a Ferrari 296 - were involved in the incident. The drivers, who have been identified as two men and a woman from the Borken district, were reported to have overtaken the queue of vehicles at greatly increased speeds. The incident, which took place at approximately 14:20 hours, saw the cars maintaining only a small distance from the vehicle ahead and at times driving side by side. When a tractor attempted to pull off the road, the drivers had to brake sharply. Following the incident, the police, on the order of the public prosecutor's office, seized the cars and the drivers' licenses. The cars were travelling at significantly excessive speeds, and the police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. Witnesses can contact the Criminal Investigation Department in Ahaus on Tel.
