The star attraction of the evening will be a lecture on ethics in research delivered by Alena Buyx, Chairwoman of the German Ethics Council.

Beyond the main event, the University of Oldenburg will also be hosting a plethora of public events throughout the day. Visitors can expect an exhibition highlighting protests and political movements at the university, pop-up shopping in the city center, and guided tours of the campus. Music lovers can also enjoy concerts and a dance in the library. Last but not least, families are invited to participate in a fun-filled day on campus, packed with activities suitable for all ages.
As the University of Oldenburg turns 50, it's taking this opportunity to look back on its storied past and reflect on its current standing. Founded on December 5, 1973, the University of Oldenburg has witnessed impressive growth in the past five decades. What started as a small educational institution with around 2,500 students has now blossomed into a bustling hub of knowledge and innovation, with over 15,500 students enrolled.
In honor of the university's milestone, several special events and activities have been planned, such as the Long Night of Hearing, the Golden Ear Challenge concert series, and various workshops and presentations. These events not only celebrate the university's achievements but also aim to inspire future generations to continue the pursuit of knowledge and discovery. As University President Ralph Bruder puts it, "We are excited to celebrate this milestone and look forward to the future of our institution and the impact we will continue to have on society."
