Hawaii Football: Unveiling the Roles of Alejado's Wingmen

The University of Hawaii's football team is gearing up for the 2025 season, and a key player to watch is starting quarterback Micah Alejado. But who are his wingmen? Let's delve into the backgrounds of Luke Weaver, Dermaricus "MarMar" Davis, and Caleb Freeman.

Dermaricus Davis, a 4-star recruit from Etiwanda High School in 2023, has bonded well with the other quarterbacks at the University of Hawaii. Davis transferred from UCLA after the Bruins brought in quarterback brothers Nico Iamaleava and Madden Iamaleava. Now, he's working under offensive coordinator Anthony Arceneaux at the University of Hawaii.

Davis' impressive stats speak for themselves. He completed 69.4% of his passes with 25 touchdowns against seven interceptions as a senior. His quiet persona, however, belies his heralded background. Davis redshirted in 2024 at UCLA without playing a game for the Bruins before transferring to Hawaii.

Luke Weaver, who transferred from Modesto College in January, has also made a smooth transition to the University of Hawaii. Weaver, recognised as a JC All-American by being named to the 2024 All-California first team, has been taking snaps as UH's No. 2 quarterback. He led Modesto to Valley Conference titles the next two years after his freshman season was voided due to a dislocated right hip.

Weaver has gained valuable experience towards his long-term goal of being a coach. He's been adjusting easily from Modesto's spread attack and Hawaii has designed special plays involving him. Freeman, who previously helped Mary Hardin-Baylor win the NCAA Division III national title, is now a scout quarterback for the University of Hawaii. He simulates the opposing team's offense against UH's top defense in practices.

Freeman also provides observations in meetings and video sessions, helping his fellow quarterbacks. He's looking for additional ways to contribute to the University of Hawaii, including practicing as the holder on point-scoring kicks and being used in other special-team roles. Davis, too, has been contributing with his arm and legs—he's completed passes and rushed for seven touchdowns.

Despite extensive searches, the roles and backgrounds of these players remain unspecified beyond their current positions on the team. Further sources or team rosters might be necessary to obtain this detailed information. Stay tuned as we continue to follow the journey of Micah Alejado and his wingmen on the Hawaii football team.

In the upcoming 2025 season, Luke Weaver, a transfer from Modesto College, and Dermaricus "MarMar" Davis, who previously played for UCLA, will be playing American football and football (respectively) in the NCAA alongside starting quarterback Micah Alejado at the University of Hawaii. Caleb Freeman, a former NCAA Division III national champion at Mary Hardin-Baylor, assists the team as a scout quarterback, simulating opposing teams' offenses and providing insight during meetings and video sessions.
