University Esports Championship 2025 National Finals Hosted by NoScope Gaming and Techno India University in Kolkata
Hyderabad-based esports organization NoScope Gaming and Techno India University have united to host the University Esports Championship 2025 National Finals in Kolkata from August 3 to 5, 2025. The tournament will bring together PC, console, mobile, and VR gaming under one roof.
The announcement was made at an event on the Techno India University campus in Kolkata. Meghdut RoyChowdhury, the university's Chief Innovation Officer, emphasized the importance of youth engagement, creativity, and innovation in shaping India's digital future. Abhinandan Mukherjee, Project Head of NoScope Gaming, highlighted the scale, significance, and ambition of the championship's return in 2025.
In a sign of its inclusivity, UEC will offer diverse gameplay opportunities, making it India's first and only esports championship to do so. Over the past seven months, UEC conducted nationwide qualifiers drawing participation from over 20,000 students across India. The top 16 university teams selected will compete in the finals for the prestigious title of India's best university esports team and a prize pool of INR 700,000.
The tournament will also feature the India Finals of the World Tennis Esports Championship (WTEC), a virtual reality (VR) tournament set to make a splash in the global esports scene. The WTEC India winner will represent Team India at the Global Finals in Las Vegas, USA, on September 10, 2025, and could stand to win a $100,000 prize pool with all expenses paid.
The decision to host the UEC National Finals in Kolkata is based both on its rich cultural heritage and rising digital youth population. Kolkata was an early hub for India's first organized esports communities in the early 2000s, making it an appropriate choice for a tournament of this scale.
TIU has been instrumental in making the event possible. The university, known for its focus on innovation, creativity, and student engagement, has played a crucial role in nurturing digital talent in Kolkata. TIU was also the first university in the city to collaborate with NoScope Gaming.
Ravi Achanta, CEO of NoScope Gaming, underscored the organization's mission to create a platform for student gamers from various backgrounds to not only compete but to dream bigger. Deepesh Solanki, Director of NoScope Gaming, echoed this sentiment, connecting the event with his previous work in building grassroots talent through mainstream sports.
